I would like to recommend three books that got me started. I listed them in the order I found them useful, from left to right. All are a great reference and shares valuable information in regards to cream making.
Are you feeling overwhelmed at this point? I hope not! It only looks intimidating but it truly isn’t. If you follow the simple guideline, I can almost guarantee you that your creams will be a success! |
Body Cream For a 120 ml (4 oz) jar you will need: 35 ml (approx. 1.2 oz) Oils such as almond oil, apricot kernel oil, coconut oil or butter, Jojoba Oil 10 – 15 g (0.3 – 0.5 oz) Thickeners / Emulsifiers such as beeswax, palm stearic acid, vegetable emulsifying wax, and/or xanthan gum 70 – 75 ml (2.4 – 2.5 oz) Liquid such as distilled water, florasols, green tea (which stains yellow on clothes) You can find more recipes in the Resources section. |
Body Lotion
For the lotion, follow the same steps as for the cream. Just reduce the base-oils and the beeswax or vegetable emulsifying wax; add the amount you take off from the base-oils and the beeswax or vegetable emulsifying wax to the Liquid (water) base.
Body Scrub
❀ Apricot and/or Almond Oil and/or Jojoba Oil
❀ Sea Salt
❀ Essential Oils
Let the base oil reach room temperature; then mix just a small amount (as much as you would like to use for your shower or bath) of base oil with about 5-10 drops of essential oils. Add either coarse or fine sea salt, mix it together and it is ready to use for your shower.
NOTE: Please use caution with salt scrubs if you are suffering from high blood pressure. The sodium of the salt is absorbed by your skin and can cause your blood pressure to rise!
Enjoy your new product!
